Paletas de Mango (or Mexican Mango Paletas) make the best summer treats.

In Mexico, you’ll see shops that sell agua frescas and Mexican popsicles.

Deciding what to get is always a challenge. They all look so good and so inviting.

Some of my favorites include Paletas de Fresas con Crema and this recipe that I’m sharing with you today.

    Ingredients

The ingredients to make Mango Paletas on a wooden table and labeled.

You only need 3 ingredients to make this super easy Mexican dessert.

The lime gives a touch of citrus flavor, but it is optional. If you’re not a fan of lime, you can also use WATER.

Sugar is shown in the picture, but it is also totally optional. You can also use Stevia or Xylitol.

    Paletas vs. Popsicles

Paletas are different from the popsicles you find at the grocery store. The main difference is that Mexican paletas are made with real fruit and sugar.

Popsicles from the grocery store and typically made with artificial sweeteners.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

A collage showing how to make the mango mixture in a blender.
    • Place the fruit, lime juice, and sugar inside a blender.
    • Blend until smooth.

    Pro Tip:

How much sugar to add depends on how ripe the fruit is. Add one tablespoon of sugar at a time.

Once it’s done blending, taste it. Is it sweet enough? If not, add more sugar until you reached desired sweetness.

A green funnel on top of half full popsicle mold surrounded by other molds that are already filled.
    • Fill the popsicle molds.
    • Add the stick.
    • Freeze for up to 4 hours.

Every fridge is different. Plan for at least 4 hours for the paletas to freeze completely.

The molds used here come with a funnel for easy cleanup. The stand helps them stay upright while they freeze. Buy them online.

Popsicle molds filled with mango mixture and topped with the stick.

When you’re ready to unmold, run the popsicle under the faucet water for 1 minute.

Be careful NOT to run it over the stick end. It should come out easily.

Can you make popsicles without molds?

Yes! Instead use plastic cups, ice cube trays, or yogurt containers. Simply fill, add a stick, and freeze.

They are perfect for warm summer days and easy to enjoy by kids and adults alike.

The combination of frozen mango with a twist of lime is my favorite part. The acidity of the lime really balances out the sweetness of the mango, making for a refreshing and delicious treat. Enjoy!
