Fruit is different in Mexico. It is picked ripe and full of flavor.

In the US, it’s a different story, the fruit is picked still green and ripens as it travels to get to the grocery stores.

You’ll see fruit vendors pushing carts throughout the streets or plazas, selling this very popular snack.

Ripe, juicy, and delicious fruit in a cup sprinkled with chile powder to create that sweet and spicy effect. Oh, yes please!

    🥭 INGREDIENTS

The ingredients needed to make the fruit cups.

    What are Mexican fruit cups?

Mexican Fruit Cups are made of fresh fruit cut and placed into a clear, plastic cup. The fruit is then drizzled with lime juice and dusted off with chile powder. Depending on where you go, some people will also add Chamoy or Japanese peanuts.

    🍉 Types of Fruit

The cups are made up of an assortment of fruit. Most typically you’ll find…

    • Pineapple
    • Cucumber
    • Mango
    • Cantaloupe
    • Watermelon
    • Coconut
    • Jicama

Use all or a combination of these fruits. Or whatever fruit you tell the street vendor to include.

    INSTRUCTIONS

Assembling Mexican fruit cups with fruit, tajin, and chile powder.

    🌶️ What is Tajin?

Tajin is a very popular brand of chile powder used to make these fruit cups. It’s made of chile powder, dried lime zest, and combination of other spices. It’s tangy and spicy.

In case you can’t find it at your local grocery store, get it here.

Often found in candy. Instead of salt for cocktails, try using Tajin for an extra kick – like a Mangonada.

    • Mexican Fried Bananas
    • Fresas con Crema

Bring Mexican fruit stands to your home with these vibrant Mexican Fruit Cups. They are bursting with color and flavor.

The end product is something incredibly yummy, refreshing, and full of nutrients.

Oh good. Yes, Tajin is a must. It’s not too spicy, and it has excellent flavor.
