    🧀 Ingredients

    • Hazelnuts
    • Slivered almonds
    • Brie cheese (rounds)
    • Mini mozzarella balls (or bocconcini)
    • Smoked bacon (or prosciutto)
    • Long beef jerky (or substitute with pretzel sticks)
    • Blackberry jam
    • Raspberries
    • Olives
    • Blackberries
    • Blueberries
    • Salami
    • Green grapes
    • Food marker or food coloring gel
Four images show a progression of food art: cheese rounds are decorated to resemble faces with edible markers, and in the final image, the cheese portraits are placed on a tray with berries and cheese shavings, resembling a whimsical character.

    👩🏼‍🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

    • Make Jack Skellington’s face: Unwrap one brie cheese and place it on your serving board. Cut off about two-thirds of the bottom crust, then use a mold or knife to shape the eyes. Draw a smile and stitches using a food marker. Replace the crust and fill the eye holes with blackberry jam for a spooky look.
    • Create Sally’s face: Use your second brie cheese round and a food marker to draw Sally’s eyes, stitched smile, and lips. For her mouth, use half a raspberry to make her lips stand out.
    • Make monster eyes: Wrap mini mozzarella balls with thin strips of bacon or prosciutto. Add an olive slice to the center as the pupil for a creepy, realistic touch.
    • Assemble the board: Lay out a Halloween-themed mat on your serving board. Arrange Jack, Sally, and the monster eyes across the board to tell the story.
A cheese wheel decorated as a winking face with salami hair and a mouth made of tomato, surrounded by blueberries, hazelnuts, grapes, raspberries, and other fruits on a platter.
    • Add color and texture: Use thinly sliced salami as Sally’s hair. Place blackberries and blueberries between the characters to create depth. Sprinkle in raspberries to look like drops of blood, and scatter nuts for crunch and texture.
    • Final touches: Add green grapes, extra olives, and breadsticks or beef jerky (or pretzel sticks). Serve with small skewers or forks for easy grabbing.

    🫙 Storing Instructions

If you have leftovers, store the cheeses, fruits, and meats separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator. The brie and meats will stay fresh for up to 3 days. For the best flavor, let them come to room temperature before serving again.

    🙋🏻‍♀️ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I make this board ahead of time?

Yes! You can prep all the ingredients a few hours in advance. Just keep the board covered and chilled until you’re ready to serve.

What can I substitute for brie?

Camembert, Mexican queso fresco, or Mexican panela cheese rounds also work great if you can’t find brie.

Can I make this board kid-friendly?

Absolutely! Swap the prosciutto for fruit roll-ups and use candy eyes instead of olives to make it fun for kids.
