    🌶️ Ingredients

The ingredients necessary to make the salsa recipe.
    • Fresh Jalapeños
    • Olive oil
    • Onion, sliced
    • Garlic cloves
    • Salt
    • Water
    • White Distilled Vinegar
    • Cilantro

    What is a jalapeno salsa?

Jalapeno salsa is a Mexican salsa that primarily uses fresh jalapenos as its key ingredient. Some people will add Roma tomatoes, yellow onion, fresh garlic, lime juice, lemon juice and bell peppers. This jalapeño sauce can be used as a delicious dip, a topping, or a flavor enhancer for various dishes.

    🥣 Instructions

Cooking jalapenos and other ingredients in a large skillet.
    • Begin by heating olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add whole jalapeños and cook until the skins are blistered, bringing out much flavor.
    • Remove the skillet.
    • Sauté sliced onion and garlic cloves in the same skillet, enhancing the aroma and taste.
    • Cook for one minute.

Slicing, in half, or even whole, it doesn’t matter how you chop up the jalapenos.

As long as the stems are cut off the jalapenos, they will all be put in the blender.

Blending the ingredients for the salsa recipe.
    • In a food processor or blender, combine the jalapeno peppers, onions, garlic, and cilantro.
    • Add a pinch of salt and white distilled vinegar for a balanced taste.
    • Blend until smooth.
    • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Allow the cooked ingredients to cool to room temperature before blending.

Taste for salt and adjust accordingly. Remember that the salsa is spiciest when hot.

    🙋🏻‍♀️ Frequently Asked Questions

Do you leave the seeds in jalapeños when making salsa?

If you want to increase the heat level, leave some seeds in the jalapeño peppers. The seeds and membranes are the hottest parts of the pepper, so removing them makes a milder salsa. If you enjoy a spicier salsa, keep some or all of the seeds.

What can I do with a lot of jalapeños?

If you have an abundance of jalapeños from your vegetable garden, there are different ways to use them. Make jalapeno salsa, pickled jalapeños, and jalapeno poppers, or add them to recipes like chili, tacos, or soups for extra heat. Freeze them for later use or dry them to make homemade chili flakes.

How do you neutralize jalapeño in salsa?

To adjust the spice level of jalapeño in salsa, you can add a little bit of sour cream, Greek yogurt, or cream cheese. Adding tomatoes, bell peppers, or other non-spicy ingredients can also create less heat. If the salsa is too spicy, using Anaheim peppers, serrano peppers or poblano peppers can change the flavor profile.

    👩🏼‍🍳 Pro Tips

    • Balancing Act: A pinch of salt and a splash of citrus juice can enhance and balance the flavors, especially if you’ve added extra heat.
    • Creamy to Your Liking: This is a creamy salsa even though there is no dairy involved. Add some sour cream or Mexican crema to achieve a different level of creaminess.
    • Experiment and Enjoy: Be bold and try different peppers like cherry tomatoes or serrano chiles for various flavors and heat levels.

    🫙 Storage:

Although fresh is best, you can store this delicious salsa in a glass container or an airtight container for 1 to 1 ½ weeks.
