Mexican Chocolate Fondue – Rich, decadent, and delicious.

Valentine’s Day in Mexico is a little different. It’s not all about your beloved. It’s also about your friends and family too.

In Mexico, February 14th is referred to as El Dia del Amor y la Amistad. Translation: The Day of Love and Friendship.

If you’re looking for an EASY Mexican dessert to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your honey, family, or friends, this is sure to hit that sweet spot.

    Mexican Chocolate Cake
    Fresas con Crema
    Carlota de Limon

    Ingredients

Four Mexican chocolate tablets next to a measuring cup with cream.

    • Mexican chocolate tablets and heavy whipping cream.

This is all you’ll need. I told you it was easy!

Mexican chocolate is unlike regular chocolate. It has cinnamon, nuts, and other ingredients which give it its unique flavor.

You can usually find it in most grocery stores. If not, you can always buy Mexican chocolate online.

    How to Make It

A heart-shaped pot with Mexican chocolate inside.

    • Place all the chocolate in the pot.

You can buy the heart-shaped pot online.

Chopping up the chocolate into pieces is completely optional. The chocolate melts quickly.

    How to Substitute Mexican Chocolate:
Equal amounts of semisweet chocolate + ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon + a drop of almond extract.

A measuring cup pouring heavy cream into a pot with chocolate.

    • Pour the heavy cream into the pot.

This is heavy whipping cream. You can also use whole milk.

Great Idea: Do this in the slow cooker and serve at a party.

    Other Mexican Chocolate Recipes:

    Champurrado
    Atole de Chocolate
    Abuelita Chocolate Frosting
    Easy Mole Recipe

A wooden spoon stirring chocolate inside a pot.

    • Stir until the chocolate melts.
    • Do not leave the stove, or the chocolate can burn.

What kind of chocolate do you use for a chocolate fountain?
Mexican chocolate is not ideal for chocolate fountains. It will not thin out completely as regular chocolate.

The chocolate used in fountains needs to be runnier in order for it to flow.

If you would like to put it in a fountain, instead use the Mexican chocolate substitute recipe that is mentioned above.

What to Dip in Chocolate Fondue?

    • Strawberries
    • Pretzels
    • Marshmallows
    • Bananas
    • Diced pound cake
    • Wafer cookies
    • Rice Crispy treats

This Mexican Chocolate Fondue is the ultimate chocolate fix. Impressive enough for your beloved or to serve to guests with minimal effort.
