🍓 Ingredients
- Ripe strawberries
- Cold water
- Sweetened Condensed Milk
- Evaporated Milk
- Sugar (Just a little bit, if necessary)
💦 Water or Milk?
In Mexico, you may be asked if you want your agua fresca made with water or milk. Agua de Fresa de Leche, or strawberry agua fresca with milk, uses fresh strawberries and evaporated milk for a thicker, creamier consistency. Some people also call it agua fresca cremosa.
For the traditional water version, simply omit the sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk. Blend the strawberries with water and sugar, then serve over ice.

👩🏼🍳 Instructions
- Wash and remove all the stems from the strawberries and remove the green tops.
- Place the ripe strawberries in a blender.
- Add the evaporated milk.
- Pour in the sweetened condensed milk (leche condensada).
- Add 1 cup of water.
Most agua fresca recipes blend the fruit and strain before adding the water, but since this is the creamy version, there is no need to strain.

- Blend until smooth.
- Add more water if necessary.
Pro Tip
If you have a smaller blender, blend the strawberries and milk mixture in batches. Pour everything into a large pitcher and stir to combine. The end result will be the same.

- Pour the strawberry mixture into a large pitcher.
- Add the remaining 5 cups of water.
- Give everything a big stir to combine.
Because this agua fresca contains dairy, keep it refrigerated until you’re ready to serve it.
🧊 Ice Ice Baby!
You can add ice cubes now. However, if you don’t serve it right away, it will dilute the mixture.
Best to add ice and pour the beverage individually into each cup.

- Add sugar, if necessary.
This step depends completely on the strawberries you use. If they are ripe, then you might not need sugar at all.
Taste it! If it needs sugar, add some sugar. Start small. About ½ cup. Stir, then taste again. Keep adding until you are satisfied with the way it tastes.
If you want to remove the strawberry seeds, use a fine-mesh sieve. Personally, I don’t remove the seeds.

Not necessarily. Sweetened condensed milk already adds plenty of sweetness, and ripe strawberries can be naturally sweet. Taste the agua fresca before adding any extra sugar and only add it if needed.
Yes, but the result will be different from this traditional creamy version. You can use a dairy-free evaporated milk alternative and dairy-free sweetened condensed milk if you want to make a dairy-free version.
Yes. You can substitute 1 cup of regular milk for the evaporated milk. The agua fresca will be a little less rich, but it will still be delicious.
Because this agua fresca contains dairy, store it covered in the refrigerator and enjoy it within 2–3 days. Stir well before serving.
Absolutely. You can prepare it a day ahead and keep it refrigerated until you are ready to serve it. Give it a good stir before pouring.
