Yummy Hot Chocolate for the Latin Grammys

    Published: Nov 18, 2014 · Updated: Nov 7, 2024 by Maggie Unzueta

It’s time for the Latin Grammys. On Nov. 20th, the 15th Latin Grammys will air at 8pm Central. I LOVE Spanish music! When I’m cooking, I have Jarabe de Palo or Shakira on. I remember being a kid and listening to Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete. I won’t go there, pero tengo muy buenos recuerdos de esas canciones.

Even though I’m in sunny San Diego, we get some cold temperatures in November. It’s not Minnesota, but 50 degrees is cold for us. That’s why I’m going to make Chocolate Caliente (or hot chocolate) this year for the Grammys. ¿A quién no le gusta? Milk fuels a better future for everyone even those of us who remember the first Latin Grammys. Ok, I might be dating myself there. LOL. #TomaLeche

    English milk

When I was a kid, we used to make it with una rueda de chocolate Mexicano, a Mexican chocolate wheel. That’s how I make it today. There’s something about Mexican chocolate that’s different. I think it has more texture, ¿o no? I’m sure the moms of the Latin Grammys artists made them drink milk, adding to their success. That’s why my Little Red se toma su leche cada dia. Hot Chocolate:

    Ingredients:
    1 wheel Mexican Chocolate
    4 ounces of milk
    dash of cinnamon

Directions: In a small stockpot, add the milk, cinnamon, and the wheel of Mexican chocolate. Whisk until the chocolate has been completely dissolved. Serve and enjoy!

I topped my cup with a little whipped cream and just a drizzle of dulce de leche. You can always substitute with caramel.

Whenever I watch a show like this, I have my set up. So, I’ll give you some tips on watching the Latin Grammys.

1- Have your snacks prepared BEFORE the show begins.
2- Prep the snacks you’re going to munch on halfway through the show BEFORE the show begins.
3- Turn off your phone. Someone will call, and you’ll miss something important like wardrobe malfunctions. I learned this one the hard way. 🙁

Can’t wait to watch Pitbull and Carlos Santana with a big cup of Hot Chocolate. Love me some Santana!
