    Oregano Tea (or Té de Orégano) is what I drink when I don’t feel well. It’s a great health booster to sip and enjoy!

    This is a tea that I learned from my mom, and of course, moms know best. 🙂

    She knows a lot of herbal remedies from her years living in a remote Mexican town where there were no medical doctors nearby. As kids, she always knew exactly what to give us when we were sick to make us feel better.

    This tea is the BEST home remedy to boost your immune system! A lovely, warm drink to ease a sore throat and fight off a cold or flu.

    Whether it’s for oregano tea or not, this fragrant and strong herb gives a unique taste to many dishes around the world. It is a must-have in all kitchen pantries.

    It’s slightly citrusy and has been used for cooking and in medicine for thousands of years.

    Good News! According to several studies oregano tea is INDEED good for you. So, drink away!

    Benefits of Oregano Tea
    There are several benefits of Oregano Tea. It boosts immunity when you have a cold, fights cancer, helps with digestion, rich in antioxidants, and helps reduce inflammation.

    Is oregano tea good for cough? Yes. Oregano tea helps with coughing and the common cold. It also helps decrease phlegm.

    How to Make It

    • Add 1 teaspoon dried oregano into a stock pot.
    • Add water and bring to a boil. Steep for 5 minutes.

    This oregano tea recipe is made using dried oregano, but you can also use fresh oregano. If using fresh oregano, use 3-5 sprigs per 1 cup of water.

    Can I drink oregano tea everyday?
    Yes. It is considered safe to drink everyday. You can drink it all day long without any side effects.

    You can make a big batch and sip it all day long. Adjust accordingly to make more cups of tea.

    • Once it steeps, strain the oregano leaves.
    • Pour the tea into a cup.
    • It’s tea time!

    The tea will be very hot. Let this cool slightly before consuming. You can even drink it cold and still reap the benefits.

    This is your basic recipe, but you can also add a mixture or all of these to the stock pot:

    • mint
    • fresh ginger root
    • tumeric root
    • chamomile
    • cinnamon Stick

    Oregano is a very popular herb throughout the world. In Mexico, it is a key ingredient used to top Pozole Rojo, Birria de Res, and Menudo.

    Oregano Tea is a non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated, and calorie-free drink. That is, unless you don’t add any sweetener like honey or sugar.

    Some people will add lemon and honey to their tea. A cup of this soothing and comforting drink is just what you need when you’re feeling under the weather.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup water
    • 1 tspn dried oregano (or 3-5 sprigs fresh oregano)

    Instructions

    • Ad the water and the dried oregano to a stock pot.
    • Bring to a boil.
    • Turn heat off.
    • Let steep for 5 minutes.
    • Strain the leaves.
    • Cool slightly before drinking.

    Notes

      Maggie this tea is amazing, I’ve been drinking it for a while. I use fresh oregano from the garden and sweeten it with maple syrup.
