    Ingredients

The ingredients needed to make Spicy Mango Margarita labeled and sitting on a marble surface.
    • Silver tequila
    • Cointreau (orange liqueur)
    • Fresh Lime Juice
    • Fresh mango juice
    • Fresh ripe mango
    • Fresh Jalapeños
    • Tajin chili powder
    • Limes for garnish

This zesty and tropical cocktail is bursting with tropical flavors.

This fruity and spicy twist is a relatively modern take on the traditional lime margarita. It’s a perfect representation of Mexican cuisine, which is all about combining diverse flavors and textures.

    Instructions

A hand rubbing the rim of the glass with lime.
    • Rim a cocktail glass with lime and dip in Tajin seasoning.
    • Set the prepared glasses aside until ready to serve.

    Pro Tips:

For a non-alcoholic version, simply skip the tequila and triple sec.

Instead of a cocktail shaker, use a high-speed blender to make a cocktail slushy.

You can store the margarita mix in the refrigerator for a few days.

Pair this easy recipe with some fresh guacamole and tortilla chips for a truly Mexican experience.

Preparing a margarita in a cocktail shaker.
    • In a cocktail shaker filled with a few slices of jalapeño and a few chunks of fresh mango.
    • Muddle well.
    • Add in ice, mango juice, lime juice, and whitetequila.
    • Shake until well chilled.

Taste and adjust the sweetness or spice level to your liking  until you find the right balance.

How to Adjust the Level of Spice

    • To adjust the spiciness, start with 1 jalapeno slice and taste. Add more lime juice to make it less spicy.
    • For a spicier drink, add 2-3 jalapeño slices.

Pour into a prepared cocktail glass filled with crushed ice or ice cubes.

Tajin only adds a little bit of heat. Instead of Tajin, make salt rims or use sugar.

    To Garnish

Peel and cut the sweet mangos into chunks.

De-seed and thinly slice the jalapeño pepper.

Garnish with fresh mango, a jalapeno slice, and a lime wedge.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What if I can’t find fresh mangoes?

No problem! You can use frozen mango chunks or high-quality mango juice instead. Just remember to adjust the sweetener as store-bought juice might already contain sugar. Fresh fruit is best when making a good margarita.

Can I make this ahead of time for a party?

Of course! You can make a big batch of the margarita mix and keep it in the fridge. Just remember to give it a good stir before serving. See recipe for pitcher instructions.

What other fruits can I use in this margarita?

Feel free to experiment! Pineapple or peach would work well in this recipe. Or swap for fresh orange juice or pineapple juice. You could also try a combination of fruits for a fun twist.

What type of glassware is best for serving this margarita?

Traditionally, margaritas are served in a margarita glass, which has a broad, shallow bowl on a tall stem. But you can use any glass you like – a tumbler or a mason jar would also do the trick!

    Using other peppers

A serrano pepper or habanero pepper can add a different kind of heat and flavor profile to your margarita. I do not recommend using green peppers in cocktails.

Just remember, some peppers are spicier than others, so adjust the amount accordingly.

    • Mango Pico de Gallo 🥭
    • Mango Agua Fresca
    • Paletas de Mango

Spicy Mango Margarita is one of those cocktail recipes that is the perfect combination of tropical mango and fiery jalapeño. It’s a twist on the classic margarita recipe and is the perfect cocktail for Cinco de Mayo or just because.

    • 1 oz lime juice (juice of 1 lime)
    • 4 oz mango juice
    • 1 mango diced (large)
    • Tajin (for garnish)
    • limes (for garnish)

    Instructions

    • Rim a cocktail glass with lime.

    • In a cocktail shared, add a slice of jalapeno (or 2 slices for spicier) and a few chunks of fresh mango.
    • Muddle well.
    • Add ice, tequila, lime juice, mango juice to the shaker
    • Shake well until the shaker is chilled.
    • Pour into prepared glass.
    • Add more ice, if desired.

    Notes

Instead of Tajin, you can use sugar or salt.

    How to Make a Pitcher:

Let’s say you get ten glasses of 10-ounce servings per pitcher. Use 2 cups of silver tequila, 1 ¼ cup mango juice, ⅔ cup orange liqueur, and 1 sliced jalapeno. Muddle the jalapeno with some of the mango juice. Pour the jalapeno mixture into pitcher along with the rest of the ingredients. Stir and serve into prepared glasses with ice.
