Mulitas de Asada

Mulitas de Asada are made of two crispy tortillas stuffed with beef and ooey gooey cheese. Serve with your favorite salsa and enjoy!

For the Beef:

  • Season the beef with all the spices.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet.
  • Add the seasoned beef, onion, and jalapeno to the skillet.
  • Cook until the liquid has been absorbed.
  • Stir occasionally.
  • Allow the meat to crisp up.
  • About 15-20 minutes.

To Assemble Mulitas:

  • Brush oil all over a griddle.
  • Turn on heat.
  • Place a tortilla on the griddle.
  • Add about 2 tablespoons of shredded cheese to the center.
  • Add about 2 tablespoons of the meat filling on top of the cheese.
  • Add an additional tablespoon of cheese on top of the meat.
  • Place another tortilla on top.
  • Using a spatula, press down on the mulita.
  • Cook for 2 minutes.
  • Flip and press down again.
  • Cook for 2 minutes.
  • Remove and repeat until all the ingredients are gone.
  • Serve and enjoy!


Easy Way:
It makes it easier if the meat is chopped BEFORE cooking. At taquerias, they will take the grilled meat, chop it up, grill the meat again to get it crispy, then assemble the mulita. 
By chopping it up before cooking, we are skipping an extra step
Traditional Way:
However, you can go the traditional route and grill the flank steak, chop it up, add to a hot skillet to crisp up, then assemble. Or better yet, use leftover carne asada.
Pro Tips:
  • Oiling the griddle is optional, but the oil will help make the tortillas CRISPY. The tortillas will cook with or without the oil. As long as the cheese is melted inside, you’re good to go. 
  • If any cheese oozes out, it’s ok! Kinda like Tacos Gobernador and Birria Tacos, the cheese forms a crust that’s undeniably yummy.
