Pineapple Agua Fresca (Agua de Piña)

Pineapple Agua Fresca (Agua de Piña) is a delicious, light, and refreshing beverage. Served in a cold glass over ice, it’s hard to resist this sweet, Mexican drink. Perfect for summer months and outdoor BBQs.

Ingredients

  • 1 pineapple
  • 6 cups water (divided)
  • ½ cup sugar

Instructions

  • Chop the pineapple into pieces, removing the tough core.
  • Add the pineapple and 1 cup of water to a blender.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Strain the pineapple mixture.
  • Add the strained pineapple mixture to a large pitcher.
  • Also add the remaining water and sugar to the pitcher.
  • Mix until combined.
  • Taste for good measure.
  • Serve in a glass over ice.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

How to tell if a pineapple is ripe: Smell the bottom of the fruit. When you put it near your nose, it should smell like pineapple. Also, look for a small amount of “give” when you squeeze it gently.
To make a diabetic-friendly version: Use Stevia or sugar substitute.
How long does Agua Fresca last: It lasts in the fridge up to 3 days. If frozen, it can last for up to a year.
