My friends know that I’m a wine writer, and they like to throw out suggestions. Bless their white cotton socks. I am always a bit cautious. Not everyone is a real wine drinker. There’s something about knowing where the wine is grown, who makes it, how the fog covers the grape vines on a fall, cool morning. Stella was recommended a few times. Not just once but in different social circles. So off, I went to see why my friends were urging me to drink this Italian wine.
Stella Rosso ($10) is a light, semi-sweet Italian wine. The aroma is fruity- black berries and jammy. It reminded me of a margarita minus the frozen aspect. Very good tannins and a long, strong finish. I would pair this wine with a nice charcuterie or some yummy enchiladas. I like that it is best served chilled especially living a place like sunny Southern California. We could use more chilled reds in this part of the world.
Stella Rosa Peach ($10) is very refreshing. Think a white sangria with a fruity, peach infusion. Chill it and serve it with cheeses or a chicken curry. You can definitely further the grandma’s apple pie with this wine.
