Spider Pizza

The other day, my son and I had were getting home from school. He looked tired from a long day of playing and more playing. Sitting on our doorstep was a large box with the word “TOYS” written on it. For a 6-year-old boy who is learning to read, you can just imagine his excitement. He immediately tore the box open and found the Amazing Spider-Man toys.

Spider-Man in the bushes

He loves Spider-Man. He can’t go to sleep without his favorite Spider-Man comforter. My son is extremely excited about the upcoming Spider-Man movie coming out on May 2nd. He received two toys that day. The action-figure ($9.99) and the Spiderman Force Web Blaster ($19.99). For the rest of the afternoon, I found Spider-Man climbing trees, and web slings flying across my yard. Spider-Man went hiding for a few minutes, and my son had to jump off his bed and save him.

My son is my biggest cooking inspiration. I made him a Spider Pizza to continue his imagination.

Ingredients:
Tortillas
Circle cookie cutter (or cup)
Spaghetti sauce
Mozzarella Cheese

Directions:

You can use bread. I had tortillas on hand. I also don’t have a circle cookie cutter. To improvise, I used a cup and cut around the edge.

tortilla circles

Spoon about 1 tablespoon of spaghetti sauce all over the tortilla circle.

The trick to this is using very thin slices of cheese. If not, they won’t melt as quickly, and you can burn your tortilla. The other thing, the melted cheese will be too thick, and it will not resemble a cheese web.

Cheese on Spider Pizzas

Place your Spider Pizzas in a preheated toaster oven at 350 degrees F for 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
