Every Christmas, I go to my uncle’s house. He and his wife have been together for over 30 years, and they are still happily married. Whenever I think of them, I think of that couple. The ideal couple. The couple everyone wants to be. The strength, the love, the respect between them is undeniable and noticeable to everyone. I want my son to remember Christmas as a day surrounded by these incredible people we call “family.”
Sequum Riverwash 2008 Zinfandel ($30)
My cousin gave me this bottle of wine for Christmas. He’s not much of a wine drinker, and for those of you who are, you know he chose very well. Paul Skinner, the winemaker at Sequum Wines, is truly amazing. The nose on this wine is captivating of dark fruits and fennel. The thick wine is full of plums, jammy, hints of spice and berries. A strong finish of firm tannins that I love in zinfandel. An excellent wine that took me back to the warmth of my uncle’s house upon first taste. Who says it can’t be Christmas everyday?

Santé! Salud! Cheers!
Note: My son put some dirt on the label. He thought it looked cool, and I didn’t have the heart to try to remove it. Nonetheless, I wanted to share this wine with you.
