I have been to Islands Restaurant many, many times. Love their burgers, but I don’t always get a burger and fries. We, adults, like options. Why shouldn’t kids get more options than just burgers and chicken tenders? Not only that, but I’m sure every parent will agree: you want some healthy alternatives. That’s why when I heard Islands had a new kids menu with healthy options, I had to check it out. There are still the usually culprits: burgers, fries, grilled cheese, mac and cheese. But there are now more choices. The menu is divided by ages. For all my childless friends, a 2-year-old eats totally, completely different than an 8-year old.
Little Red immediately marked this slider as his and didn’t share much. Sniff!
It came with a side. We ordered veggies and ranch dipping sauce. Jicama, cucumber, and carrots. Little Red inhaled the cucumber.
Grilled Chicken and Caesar Salad
I cut the sandwich in half to show you the inside. That’s right. It’s grilled and not breaded.
Grilled chicken with brown rice and broccoli in a teriyaki sauce. Served with grilled pineapple. Little Red didn’t care for the broccoli, but he loved the grilled pineapple. The side is more pineapple with yogurt dipping sauce. Little Red asked for more yogurt.
I was surprised to find a fruit bar. There’s only one berry option which Little Red LOVED.
We also opted for the sundae which was gone in 2 seconds.
Thank you, Islands Burgers for inviting us. Even if that wasn’t the case, I’m excited to see the change in a positive direction for kids food. 🙂
