I love Napa. Does that surprise you coming from a wine blogger? There’s something about being in the presence of grapes growing on a peaceful countryside. On my most recent trip to the wine country, I was lucky enough to stay at the Meritage Resort and Spa.
The view from the room is pretty amazing. Don’t you think? If only I could wake up in their king-sized bed to this view everyday…
In the room, they greeted us with a complimentary bottle of Apprentice Cabernet Sauvignon from Trinitas Cellars. It’s a medium bodied wine with good tannins and moderate oak. Talk about a great way to celebrate being in Napa.
Trinitas Cellars also has a cave wine tasting room at the Meritage Resort and Spa. That’s right, I said cave. If you’ve never been to one, you must check this out. It’s right next to the underground spa. That’s right, I said spa. I always knew heaven existed!
Next to the entrance of Trinitas Cellars is a walk path that goes around the vineyard at the Meritage Resort and Spa. There are signs everywhere on this path, telling you what grapes are being grown.
The view from the top of the path is truly impressive. There, you will find an enormous statue of a grape crusher. You can even see this guy from the highway.
In the fall, there really isn’t any other place like Napa Valley. The colors of red, orange, yellow, and green decorate the streets and the hills. It’s almost like the Northeast minus the frigid temperatures.
The Meritage Resort is close enough to go back and forth into downtown Napa, but why drive? They have a shuttle to and from the resort. Gotta love that especially with all the vino! Then again, why leave? There’s plenty to keep you busy at the resort – bowling, dining, lounging by the swimming pool.
For those of you who missed it, here is my tasting at Sienna, one of the restaurants at the resort.
