Our son, Mama Maggie and I recently left the island for a weekday movie adventure. We were invited to a special screening of “The LEGO NINJAGO Movie“.
We packed up the Mama Maggie’s Kitchen Mobile and shot up the highway immediately after school so as to avoid much of the rush hour traffic. And the trip was totally worth it.
Our 10-year-old, AKA “The Redhead”, is a total LEGO® fan. He has built nearly every model there is and put together some amazing creations of his own. When the first LEGO® movie came out, he was all over it – begging and pleading for me to take him.
OK, even though I’m an adult, I also secretly love all things LEGO® (including, of course, the incredible LEGOLAND), and the movies are no exception. The reality is that our entire family usually enjoys the LEGO® movies, and, even though it was a school night, we couldn’t resist this special opportunity.
The LEGO NINJAGO Movie was highly-entertaining for all of us.
The latest animated adventure is as funny as it can be. The script is peppered with humor that appeals to both kids and adults, and it’s worth paying attention to catch the great puns and jokes. Clearly, the writers worked hard to entertain both children and parents so the experience was a fun-filled laughter fest for all.
I can’t tell you the entire plot but you’ll like it a lot. Let’s just say, “It’s the cat’s meow.” 🙂
The city of Ninjago is often attacked by the super evil Lord Garmadon. The young Lloyd Garmadon, the Evil Lord’s son, is despised by the city but also happens to be part of a secret ninja force whose goal is to protect the city. The film chronicles Lloyd’s and the other ninjas’ adventures as well as their battles with Lloyd’s father.
Despite the wide range of talented actors, our family favorite was Jackie Chan, who plays Master Wu. His wise cracks, wisdom and antics made him the perfect character. Jackie Chan sets the stage as the film unfolds and remains a reassuring and hilarious presence throughout the movie.
The LEGO Ninjago movie is both very entertaining and charming. There is a great collection of talented voices on board. Overall, the Redhead, Mama Maggie and I had a great time. Hope you and your family love it too!
