When I first moved to San Diego, I lived in Pacific Beach. It was as is now a party town. Sun-kissed surfers, girls in short skirts, walks down Garnet to the beach. That was a million years ago before my Little Red was born. At the time, they were starting construction of Tower 23, the chic hotel where JRDN sits. This restaurant has a fabulous view. It’s on the ocean walkway, a perfect place for people watching.
Chili Mango Margarita $10
Some like it hot. The chili stands out in this drink. You can’t taste the mango very well as strong chili flavors are overpowering. Great for the spicy lover or bloody mary drinker. I would expect nothing less than good cocktails at this restaurant because of its location. If you’re looking to get away from the dive bars and sports bars in PB, this is a great place for after work drinks.
Kale Salad $14
The apples and cranberries help bring down the bitterness of the kale. The pistachios are a nice texture contrast as are the corn bread croutons. The goat cheese is creamy, and the little bursts of pomegranate add a hint of sweetness. Warning: this is a seasonal salad. It might not be on the menu too long.
Lobster BLT $16
What a great, decadent sandwich! I might be salivating just thinking about it. Lobster AND bacon mixed in a creamy tarragon aioli. YUM! If you are thinking of sharing, you will regret it. You want to get one for yourself. It is served with truffle fries on the side (not pictured) for more guilty indulging. Oh, and it sits on a brioche bread. I’ll even say it again, YUM!
