How to Pair Garnacha Wines

Garnacha Wines

What do you do when you get a shipment of Garnacha Wines? Other than jump up and down from joy, that is. Me, I’m going to put on some Julio Iglesias or maybe some classic Oreja de Van Gogh. Then I’m going to pop (not the weasel) but the corks and pair each of them with the perfect dishes.

Spanish Wines

Spain… I LOVE Spain. It’s a hidden gem in Europe. Everything is super cheap. The food is amazing, and the wine rocks. Plus, se habla español. Spanish is my native language. I can ask for the nearest bathroom without asking Google translate. There are wine varietals in Spain that people in the US have no clue about. One of my favorites is garnacha because it adapts easily to the American palate. You know how chardonnay is white, and cabernet sauvignon is red? Well, garnacha is both. Mind blowing, I know. It’s very diverse in flavor for that reason. Full of aromas and flavors just like anything Spain.

Garnacha Wines

Garnacha is full of endless possibilites. If you’re having a pork or grilled meat, the red varietal of garnacha might be a good pairing. Full bodied, lots of spice and amazing flavors.

Garnacha Wines

We have chicken maybe twice a week for dinner. In that case, I would opt for a Garnacha Red Blend. It’s still full bodied and delicious. It goes well with spices like thyme, tarragon, garlic, chives, and fennel.

Garnacha Wines

If you’re dining al fresco… (yes, I know it’s fall, but consider this in a few months) … the Garnacha white/ blanc/ gris is great with salads, white fish with lemon. Yum! Yum!

Garnacha Wines

Who are Rosé fans? Dry, not that sweet stuff you used to drink in college. I love a good dry Garnacha Rosé. It’s versatile with food – salads, including raw tomatoes, vinaigrettes, fish especially salmon. You can even pair it with Asian food. It can be hard to pair wine with egg rolls, but this wine would totally work.

Garnacha Wines

With a Fortified Grenache, since it’s a fruity wine, I would pair it with roasted figs, dried fruits and cheese. There’s nothing better than a good cheese platter. Can I get an AMEN?! 🙂

Share your Garnacha Story on September 16th through @WinesofGarnacha Facebook page. Winners will receive a $35 value swag bag including bottle coolers, Wine USBs, corkscrews and other goodies! Cheers!
