The Gourmet Food Truck Festival at the Del Mar Racetrack offered some serious yummy options from jazzed up pizzas to smoked barbecue. It was so hard to choose, but we managed to narrow down our choices. This is what I ate that day. All I can say is: I might be full for weeks!
Food Trucks at the Gourmet Food Truck Festival
Two for the Road
Little Red and I started our Gourmet Food Truck Festival adventure with Cap n’ Crunch crabcakes from Two for the Road. It came with a spicy mayo sauce. He ate most of one, but he couldn’t eat the sauce. It was too spicy for his 7-year-old tongue. No problem. More for me!!! 🙂
Stuff Nit Burgers
Next, we went to Stuff Nit Burgers. We choose a few sliders because they were small, and I wanted to eat more at the Gourmet Food Truck Festival. Stuff Nit Burgers also had some hot dogs that I really wanted to try. Sniff… maybe next time.
This is the first slider we tried. Pulled Pork with some barbecue sauce and a pickle. Little Red said this was his favorite.
Then he had the Caprese Slider with lettuce, bacon, mozzarella, tomato, and pesto sauce. This became his new favorite.
Cousins Maine Lobster
We marched over to Lobster heaven at Cousins Maine Lobster. The line was sooooo long. I can’t blame everyone for wanting to try this. Check out all those accolades! Definitely well deserved.
Seriously hard to choose just one item with that menu, but we ended up getting the Connecticut Lobster Roll. Notice the star next to it? That means, it rocks! And OMG! It did! This then became Little Red’s favorite. It was without a doubt my favorite at the Gourmet Food Truck Festival. I could eat two more of these easily.
We needed something sweet to end our day of eating at the Gourmet Food Truck Festival. My Little Red saw Rita’s, and he insisted on one of their Italian ice. He loves the Oreo Cookie kind, and it was a nice way to end a hot day with a delicious and cool treat.
The names of some of the food trucks killed me. You gotta check some of these out.
This one is for all my fellow porky pork lovers.
Have you been to the Del Mar Racetrack yet? There’s more to do than watch horses and wear hats. Although, I have to admit, that is pretty cool. See you at the races!
