I’m a single mom, and I’ve become very creative in the kitchen. Needless to say, stretching a dollar is necessary. It’s become a habit now. Just like having easy quick snacks ready to go for when my little guy comes in from playing outside. So, when I was challenged to create a meal under $10, I thought EASY! If you don’t think it’s possible, check out these cheap food ideas.
Cheap food ideas always come from a visit to Walmart. I purchased Jello-O: Instant Chocolate Pudding & Pie Filling, Kraft Original Flavor Macaroni & Cheese, and Kool-Aid Burst. CLICK HERE to check out Walmart’s Facebook page for their latest promotions.

I had milk, bread, cheese, and spinach at home. Let’s add that to our total too.
My Walmart purchase: $4.16
8 slices of bread: $0.74
1/4 cup cheddar cheese: $0.99
½ bunch of spinach .75
(NOTE: I calculated only what I used)
Grilled Cheese Bacon Mac n Cheese:
1 box of Kraft Mac n Cheese
8 slices of bread
3 slices of cooked bacon, cut in half
1/4 cup cheddar cheese
1/2 bunch of spinach, chopped
Prepare Kraft Mac n Cheese as directed on the box. While still hot, add spinach, mix, and put lid back on. The spinach will wilt. Put one slice of bread on a warm skillet and top with mac n cheese. Add cheese, bacon, and another slice of bread. Brown on both sides.
Like most kids, my son is a picky eater. For the main dish, I wanted to make a balanced meal and kid friendly. So, I made a mac n cheese sandwich, added spinach and bacon. Trust me. This is DELICIOUS! We’re talking bacon after all.
For dessert, I combined the pudding mix with milk and a sprinkle or two of cinnamon. Whisk. Whisk. Whisk. I put it in the frig to set then served it with sliced bananas. It doesn’t need anything more than that. Love creamy, thick chocolate pudding.
Under $10 and with some money to spare. Easy, right?
