Whenever I take wine to someone’s house, it is usually a chardonnay. Is it just my observation, or do people like chardonnay more than any other varietal? Maybe it is just in my group of friends. For the most part, if I want a crowd pleaser, a chardonnay or moscato are sure to impress the host and guests alike. Not that I am complaining. It makes life a lot easier when choosing a wine gift. I mean, how many times have you stared and stared at the wine selection at the store wondering what to get and how much to spend or if you can fool someone into believing it’s a more expensive wine. Lol. Maybe it is the sweetness or the fruitiness. Maybe it is the oak from the barrels or the lack of oak from the stainless steel. I really can’t blame people for loving this varietal. Chardonnay is wonderful as is Chamisal Chardonnay 2010.
Chamisal Chardonnay 2010
Chamisal Chardonnay 2010 is a tropical delight of a wine. The bouquet is sweet and citrusy, conjuring images of a warm beach and palm trees swaying in the wind. Grapefruits, vanilla, and fresh fruits can easily be detected in the mouth. A pleasantly smooth to drink chardonnay that lingers softly at the end. What is very interesting about this wine is that it is unoaked. Only pure fruit from the cool Central Coast of California. When I learned this, I loved it even more for its naturalness and ability to shine sans oak. If you buy a bottle, buy a case. Take one to your next dinner party. Your dinner host and the other guests at the party will love you for it. I would pair this wine with a roasted chicken or a grilled salmon.
